Nick and Laura's Fun E-Session, Union Depot Saint Paul, MN

Andrews Photography had a chance to meet and get to know Nick and Laura a future bride and groom. Sept 18th 2010 is booked sorry folks. A wonderful couple who likes to kid around and have a good time.

Andrews Photography used the Union Depot in Saint Paul for the background and meeting place to do the Fun E-Session. What a wonderful place, unfortunately the restaurant Christos was closed. They were looking forward to eating lunch at the famous location after the shoot. Here is a bit more about the union and Christos.

CHRISTOS UNION DEPOT
Christos Union Depot Place, with the beautifully preserved, neo-classical grandeur of the historic train station, is a perfect venue for wedding receptions, Broad columns greet you at the portico; Ionic columns flank the stunning Great Hall; fifty foot ceilings with wrought iron chandeliers and a marble dance floor add to the timeless elegance of the space. Add Christos’ wonderful food, and there is no doubt: This is where you want to have your reception. Ask for Georgia at 651-224-6000, or email Georgia@Christos.com

The Saint Paul Union Depot (sometimes referred to as SPUD) was the main train station in the city of Saint Paul, Minnesota until passenger rail service in the region was restructured in the 1970s, with Amtrak taking over most passenger service in the United States. In 1971, Amtrak moved its rail service for the Twin Cities to the Great Northern Station in Minneapolis, and in 1978 opened the new Midway Station about halfway between the downtown's of Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Thanks to both of you and Congratulations on the big day.

Historical Court House in Still Water, Wedding Doug and Jamie, Andrews Photography

Wow what a wonderful day. Winter weddings are always a bit of luck and good planning. Thank the lord we had good traveling weather for Doug and Jamies wedding.

The ceremony was at the Historical Court House in Still Water. The reception was in Wisconsin at the R&D Banquet and Catering.

The Historical Court House is one of our favorite spots to document a wedding. The venue seems small but if you hire a photographer that can handle the angles right, you can make it seem like a grand space. Donna and the staff have changed the location of the dressing room for the ladies. The new changing area is in the side room by the small entrance, a good fit. This left the mirror room with the small stairs nice and clean for romantic photos. Kudos To the staff at the Historical Court House.

At first glance, the reception at the R&D Banquet and Catering looked to be a bit shaky. Think new large box building, the front has nothing to look at but the inside layout and decor is top notch. With sage green walls that just happened to be the same accent color the bride picked out, what luck. Large ceilings and a nice box shaped room so everyone had a great view of the toasting. Large dance floor with a stage for the DJ. The bar was a separate room were they had just enough space to place the buffet. Andrews Photography believes in a separate room for the buffet, keeps the dinner room nice and free flowing. Who wants to drop food on the dance floor right? Jamie and Doug did a cool thing, the rise of a new trend. They opted for a simple pasta meal, one with white sauce and the other penne with red sauce. Paired it with fruit and large salad selections, it was a hit. They saved big, real big! With the savings on the food. They could spent the extra money on the photographs and fine art album. This was on the top of their list, a must have. You only get one shot at covering a wedding so get the best you can afford in the way of photo coverage.

Cake, we will not get into this much. We tell all our brides the same thing, when you order your flowers and cake you may not like what you see the day of. Please dont let the little imperfections ruin your day. Jamie had a nice photo of a cake from a magazine that she wanted reproduced. The baker didnt nail the cake presentation but came close, presentation was off but the cake tasted fantastic.

Jamie and Doug thanks for going outside for a few photos and the fun we had at the bar. Great idea about the leg warmers your brides maids looked fantastic. We cant wait to document Your maid of honors wedding next year. Go Kelly!

News for Andrews-Photography. We won the Wedding Photographer of the year from Twin Cities Professional Photographers of America, "TCPPA". The photo organization has been around for 20+ years and helped raise more than $9,600.00 for Operation Smile. Membership hovers around 300 and boasts some of the best photo speakers. Andrews Photography has a chance every month to get tips and training from some of the top photographers in the world. This has impacted Andrews Photography in so many ways. Being able to get fresh ideas and stay on the cutting edge of what we can bring to our brides. Each month we grow and learn something new. We are able to stay nimble and refine our approach to life and the relationship between bride, groom and photographer.

This Month Rod Andrew Wilson will finally be getting his award from Professional Photographers of America for The Silver Wedding Photographer of the year. You can read about this award and the Canon Par Excellent award he won in 2008 in past blogs. Way to go Rod!

Fun E-Session thats a Engagement Session to everyone still living in the 90's

Andrews Photography had the chance to document Shawn and Salinas Love. We planned a nice day out in the snow for them. Thank the lord it was December and we had snow. These two love to get out in the white stuff. Salina you could have worn your boots though, her feet did get cold but she was a real lets get it done kind of gal. Location Saint Paul Very unusual blue car wash. You defiantly don't see them around anymore, it fit perfectly with there love of cars and the color was coolio too. Location two was near Mears park in lower town by the River. Rusty pillars and hey on a Sunday plenty of room down their. Snow fight was just past the over hang in location two. Wow those two are in love and they know how to have fun. Thanks for the nice letter to Salina you are so thoughtful! We love you too and cant wait to shoot your wedding on May 1st.

Here is her letter she said it was ok to share it with everyone thanks again Salina and Shawn.. Stay tuned I have to get there proposal photos up here any day.

So here's our story, we orginally already had a photographer booked, and shot our engagement photos, but when we got them back they weren't exactly what we were picturing.

We didn't have much time to find a new photographer, so I immediately hopped on the internet and started searching for Twin Cities photographers and here it is... I found Andrews-Photography.com, which was such an awesome thing. Because I fell in-love with his work right away and knew we had to have him. It was the kind of work that you could look at and never get bored of.

This might be kind of embarrassing but I can recall a couple times where I would be at work and need to log onto his website. A Andrews Photography fix so to speak and just look at all the work he's done over and over again. Call it weird but I can't stress it enough that our engagement and wedding photos are ones that we want to look back on and say... Yes! This is how much we love each-other and you could just see it in the pictures.

When I first spoke to Rod over the phone, He kind of estimated the price and my jaws dropped. I was kind of worry that we wouldn't be able to have him shoot for us because he is kind of pricey and our wedding alone is very expensive. After talking for about 8-10 times over the phone, he told me not to worry and let's just go ahead and set a time and date to meet, so we did.

With the worries of I might not being able to get him, we still went with an open mind. He was very professional, Rod had alot of wonderful information, and made everything so comfortable. We were able to find a price that we were comfortable with, but still kind of high up there. So he told us to take time and talk to our parents, which we did and they thought we were out of our minds crazy. Then we told them that we saw his work actually in person and we fell in-love even more. We were able to convince them that it was really what we wanted. What do you really end up keeping after the wedding but the photos right? That Night we called Rod and booked him for our date.

We also picked a date to shoot our Engagement photos. Funny thing, I was stressing over what to wear for our session. Rod to the rescue! Rods recommendation on what colors we might be able to wear for our Fun E-Session. He had alot of great ideas too on were to photograph us, Shawn is into cars his happens to be orange and Rod knew of a great spot on West 7th, a self service blue old car wash place. This was our first stop the second scene was a old rusted bunch of pillars on Kellogg. When we showed up at our session, we got right to business. Rod was very good at explaining poses, lighting, and directing for us. He made us feel very comfortable and we were able to actually be ourselves. He let us review some of the shots and we can honestly say that we loved every one of them. During our session, there was not a moment where we were never laughing or smiling. We even got to throw some snow at each other. I think if it wasn't for my choice in foot wear we would have been out there having fun all day. I think about what we would have missed if we would have stayed with the other photographer. My recommendation hire Andrews Photography a professional to document your day.

We would like to thank you again Rod, for doing such a wonderful job and being flexible with us. We look forward to having you for our wedding and referring you to our friends and families!

Alaina H.S. Senior, Photographer In {Minneapolis} Saint Paul

Andrews Photography had the chance to photograph Alaina a H.S. Senior From North High in Saint Paul MN. We did a cool session in the studio and then took a walk around downtown Saint Paul to some really fun locations. The day turned out to be sunny for November. Thanks for the small things, like temps above 40 degrees.

What a H.S. Senior brings in terms of attitude is the key here. She had some of her best photos just by adding her smile and winning attitude. Alaina thanks for preparing before the shoot and by just being yourself in front of the camera.

We did a bit of a dreamscape image at the end and it turned into one of my favorites.

Looking for H.S. Senior Photos? Kids of 2010 and 2011 call now and find out how to be a Model for our studio. Get free sittings and prints before your friends!

Wear the Dress with a twist, Andrews Photography and the power of fall colors

Andrews Photography "After-Sessions" "Wear the Dress" "Trash the Dress" New trend's in the wedding market.

After Session have been big this year especially with the weather being so unpredictable. Your wedding day is still the same day, brides, try to do your all your formals before the ceremony. Then enjoy your day as it should be with your guests. After Sessions have saved many wedding dreams. Brides think about it if you want a cool location across town and you just didn't have the time on your wedding day. Plan a After-Session with your photographer for the ultimate experience. We add a After Session or Wear the dress session for free to any bridal package ordered in 2009 or 2010. That's pretty cool a $1500.00 Savings. After-Sessions run about 1-2 hours and help expand your dream day. You can wear your hair the same way as your wedding day or maybe change it up. After-Sessions are usually based on photos taken like landscapes. Brides think of a beautiful landscape then add you and your guy in it. Award winning image to say the least.

Andrews Photography had the chance to photograph Sarah and Rio. A couple planning there wedding for the future. She got very excited and wanted to see herself in her dress early, We would call this a "Formal Bridal Session". Rio the groom to be was nervous, he never gets his photo taken that often. He did really well though for a guy that does not like his photo being taken.

Sarah asked if Andrews Photography had any cool concept ideas for a After Session kind of look. We came up with the bride of 2000 cleaning and wearing her wedding dress. The fall colors on Grand Ave were kicking like crazy. So we went outside for a few cha-cha photos and a bridal reflection.

On a different note I think well start to seeing more non traditional gowns and weddings in 2011. Example, Most Russian Brides choose to wear a deep red dress, Some Euro Brides have been going to Royal blue with white and silver accents. Caribean bound brides try off white, creams, Ivory or pale pinks and blues.
