Fun E-Session thats a Engagement Session to everyone still living in the 90's
Here is her letter she said it was ok to share it with everyone thanks again Salina and Shawn.. Stay tuned I have to get there proposal photos up here any day.
So here's our story, we orginally already had a photographer booked, and shot our engagement photos, but when we got them back they weren't exactly what we were picturing.
We didn't have much time to find a new photographer, so I immediately hopped on the internet and started searching for Twin Cities photographers and here it is... I found Andrews-Photography.com, which was such an awesome thing. Because I fell in-love with his work right away and knew we had to have him. It was the kind of work that you could look at and never get bored of.
This might be kind of embarrassing but I can recall a couple times where I would be at work and need to log onto his website. A Andrews Photography fix so to speak and just look at all the work he's done over and over again. Call it weird but I can't stress it enough that our engagement and wedding photos are ones that we want to look back on and say... Yes! This is how much we love each-other and you could just see it in the pictures.
When I first spoke to Rod over the phone, He kind of estimated the price and my jaws dropped. I was kind of worry that we wouldn't be able to have him shoot for us because he is kind of pricey and our wedding alone is very expensive. After talking for about 8-10 times over the phone, he told me not to worry and let's just go ahead and set a time and date to meet, so we did.
With the worries of I might not being able to get him, we still went with an open mind. He was very professional, Rod had alot of wonderful information, and made everything so comfortable. We were able to find a price that we were comfortable with, but still kind of high up there. So he told us to take time and talk to our parents, which we did and they thought we were out of our minds crazy. Then we told them that we saw his work actually in person and we fell in-love even more. We were able to convince them that it was really what we wanted. What do you really end up keeping after the wedding but the photos right? That Night we called Rod and booked him for our date.
We also picked a date to shoot our Engagement photos. Funny thing, I was stressing over what to wear for our session. Rod to the rescue! Rods recommendation on what colors we might be able to wear for our Fun E-Session. He had alot of great ideas too on were to photograph us, Shawn is into cars his happens to be orange and Rod knew of a great spot on West 7th, a self service blue old car wash place. This was our first stop the second scene was a old rusted bunch of pillars on Kellogg. When we showed up at our session, we got right to business. Rod was very good at explaining poses, lighting, and directing for us. He made us feel very comfortable and we were able to actually be ourselves. He let us review some of the shots and we can honestly say that we loved every one of them. During our session, there was not a moment where we were never laughing or smiling. We even got to throw some snow at each other. I think if it wasn't for my choice in foot wear we would have been out there having fun all day. I think about what we would have missed if we would have stayed with the other photographer. My recommendation hire Andrews Photography a professional to document your day.
We would like to thank you again Rod, for doing such a wonderful job and being flexible with us. We look forward to having you for our wedding and referring you to our friends and families!

Alaina H.S. Senior, Photographer In {Minneapolis} Saint Paul
What a H.S. Senior brings in terms of attitude is the key here. She had some of her best photos just by adding her smile and winning attitude. Alaina thanks for preparing before the shoot and by just being yourself in front of the camera.
We did a bit of a dreamscape image at the end and it turned into one of my favorites.

Wear the Dress with a twist, Andrews Photography and the power of fall colors
After Session have been big this year especially with the weather being so unpredictable. Your wedding day is still the same day, brides, try to do your all your formals before the ceremony. Then enjoy your day as it should be with your guests. After Sessions have saved many wedding dreams. Brides think about it if you want a cool location across town and you just didn't have the time on your wedding day. Plan a After-Session with your photographer for the ultimate experience. We add a After Session or Wear the dress session for free to any bridal package ordered in 2009 or 2010. That's pretty cool a $1500.00 Savings. After-Sessions run about 1-2 hours and help expand your dream day. You can wear your hair the same way as your wedding day or maybe change it up. After-Sessions are usually based on photos taken like landscapes. Brides think of a beautiful landscape then add you and your guy in it. Award winning image to say the least.
Andrews Photography had the chance to photograph Sarah and Rio. A couple planning there wedding for the future. She got very excited and wanted to see herself in her dress early, We would call this a "Formal Bridal Session". Rio the groom to be was nervous, he never gets his photo taken that often. He did really well though for a guy that does not like his photo being taken.
Sarah asked if Andrews Photography had any cool concept ideas for a After Session kind of look. We came up with the bride of 2000 cleaning and wearing her wedding dress. The fall colors on Grand Ave were kicking like crazy. So we went outside for a few cha-cha photos and a bridal reflection.

On a different note I think well start to seeing more non traditional gowns and weddings in 2011. Example, Most Russian Brides choose to wear a deep red dress, Some Euro Brides have been going to Royal blue with white and silver accents. Caribean bound brides try off white, creams, Ivory or pale pinks and blues.

Christina and Toni's, Destintation wedding, Chicago

Andrews Photography takes flight to cover a destination wedding in Chicago. Christina and Toni's destination wedding in Chicago was a blast. I don't think I will be able to blog just one time for this wedding. Way to much going on, the bride never stopped and either did we. Check out one of the small video clips we did. The groom was caught taking a quick nap in the limo.
17th of June the day before the wedding. Andrews Photography flew down on Southwest Airlines. The flight was fantastic the employees, definitely funny. Our checked luggage made it too, way to go ground crew. Smaller terminal equals less loss, we loved them thanks Southwest?

That morning we met up with Christina and Toni at there Flat in Oak Park. We went over the site locations and all the hot spots she wanted to get to on the 18th. Planning is always good considering it was going to rain on her wedding day. I put in a quick prayer to the big guy in the sky, asking for a few hours of sun. This usually works in most cases, we have had only 3 weddings in the course of 16 years rained out.
Christina also took us to the bridal shop to pick up her dress "Alberto's on 95th street in Evergreen Park" great service. Off to lunch and a few quick last minute items we were headed down town for check in at the regal BlackStone Hotel. Nice place lots of charm and a really cool gold couch in the lobby. The staff, 5 stars way to go folks for all the great service.
We had a few hours to scout around the hotel for possible cool cityscape's and found one that would work for her light rail photo "The Loop". Next it was on to the Silver Bean Sculpture in Millennium park. This is the same park were presidential candidate Mr. Obama gave his speech while he was in Chicago. Our Staff was impressed with the band shell it was quite a marvel. Many clicks later and with cool ideas in the brain we were off for dinner at the Thai Spoon. Want to see Toni and Christina's day click here and use this password Tonichristina.
Thanks to,
Christina and Toni for booking us to document there day, glad we could help

Corey Cook set this model shoot up for his soon to be fiancee Carley. He wanted to capture the moment on film when he presented her the ring. Corey said,' It was so hard trying to keep this secret and she wanted to talk about marriage all week and I was just like oh god I cant wait to surprise her during the shoot at Andrews Photography". "I had to hide the check book for two months so she wouldn't see the amount I took out and question me about it". "It is so hard to surprise her she knows everything and I just wanted to get it on film".

We have done this in the past for a few friends who were popping the question and it went really well. Lady if your reading this right now and you do not have that ring yet. Send your man to this blog and get him started. We have some pretty cool ideas he can steal too. Think profound moment! Canon, Par Excellence Award Northern Lights, mnppa, 2009
They called him on Sunday and asked if He was available to except an award at the Lu out banquet on Tuesday a casual affair this year note the no Tux, just tee shirt and flowers. Long story short He drove up to breezy point and picked up his new award "Canon's par excellence Award" He received a nice pin, glass trophy and a New Canon 5D MarkII camera with a 85mm lens. Thanks goes out to Ed Meyers with canon, what a really nice guy! buy a camera today his email emeyers@cusa.canon.com
Wow! OK so the award is not always given out it has to be earned in a unique way. Most photographers enter 4 prints for competition in hopes of receiving a perfect score of 100 out of 100 for each print. Most prints score well into the 70's, hey were professionals. To receive this award all 4 prints must score above 80. Three individuals qualified for the award out of nearly a 100 entries from the three states. North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota being the three states in Northern Lights.
The winner is not always the highest print case total. The judges choose just one lucky person they feel as met the requirements of excellence. We have the video, not the greatest quality but pretty fun to watch.
Thanks to everyone for supporting Rod Andrew Wilson through the years!

Rod is very happy to be the 2009 winner of the Canon, Par Excellence Award Northern Lights, mnppa. He says "he couldn't have done it without the help of TCPPA and the great speakers they have had over the years". This being his first NLPPA competition, He found if fun and exciting. He encourage's everyone to enter at least once in there life time. The next step for Rod will be to enter in the 2009 PPA print competition. He will be awarded A bronze medallion for meriting 4 prints out of 4. If any of his prints make it into the loan collection He may receive a silver or gold.
Anyone at the convention get a better video? Please send it his way rwphoto@earthlink.net or call Rod @ 651.292.9242

Andrews Photography, Wedding Tip, getting more out of your day what to expect
Drawing on our 20 years experience in the wedding business as a photographer and wedding planner. We will try and inform you about what a wedding can be like. Think of the wedding day as a three ring circus, mind you a really wonderful three ring circus.
The groom. He is the ring master, this is his time to show the other side of the family that he can run the show keep things together. He doesn't necessarily do anything during the day but delegate, if the need arises. His other job is to be around the bride so the photographer can get those really cool candid photos of him interacting with his love.
The bride. Her only job is to make sure her dress was fitted properly and she's on time. She will be aglow, a site to behold, a goddess, a vision in white, a dream come true. You get the picture. Believe me she will have great photos!
The parents. They just want to reconnect with there families and show off those wonderful kids of theirs. Mom wants the formal photos but she really wants to make sure that the guests are happy and that this wedding was better than cousin Margie's last year, their cousin took the photos and lets just say it wasn't pretty, think, "kid in a lion cage" clean up in the center ring. Father of the bride just wants to get out of this situation without getting a second mortgage.
Weddings are a time of celebration and a coming together of two families, don't spend your time after the ceremony, that's if you can taking the formals. Spend your time after doing something fun with the bridal party or mingling with your guests. If you dont want to see the groom before hand think of doing this instead. Take 15 minutes at the beginning of the day and do a first encounter were the bride walks in to the groom in a private area. It will be close to the same experience as the isle. This gives them the time to connect before the day gets started. Makes for great photojournalist romantics of the bride and groom too. Now a third of your wedding day just became available for fun.
When the popcorn has been eaten and the clowns have stolen away, remember the only lasting memories will be your photos. Invest wisely.

Thank you video from Corey and Carley
Fun E session Vegas Neon bone yard, Andrews Photography
This couple knows how to live life. If you have been following my blog you will have remembered Corey and Carley. Corey was the one who popped the question during a photo shoot at my studio. Carely opted to wear a black dress while in Vegas at the Neon Museum. The Neon Museum has all the old Vegas signs in a lot north of the down town district. They also fix up some of the signs to there rightfull glory. The lot is nothing but gravel and dust, bring something to drink. You might want to go to the bathroom too before showing up, they don't have any running water. Think backyard lot, add 2 bums and a bit of stink and you got it. Corey and Carley had a blast though. Its nice when you have a couple that has a vision and wants to try fun intimate photos. You can see the entire shoot here password is Vegasneonboneyard. Andrews Photography was there to capture a unique experience for there Vegas trip. We have had numerous couples photographed in Vegas but no one else opted for this location. We think this is one of the most hidden gems in America. Even the Vegas cabs don't know about this place. A tip to Destination weddings in general, hire a photographer that knows you, do the research on the location, and bring him or her along with you. You will get more then you ever imagined.
